Industry Awards
The Index Business Association and Information Management Network annually produce the most prestigious awards in the index business. Known as the William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards, they are presented at the Super Bowl of Indexing®, the annual meeting for the IBA and they recognize the most important contribution to the industry over the preceding year. In 2008 the categories for the awards include:
- Most Innovative Benchmark Index
- Most Innovative Index Fund or ETF
- Most Innovative Index Product
- Best Index-related Research Paper
- Most Innovative Indexing Strategy
- Lifetime Achievement Award
The awards are chosen following a rigorous selection process, starting with a vetting committee of industry practitioners. The vetting committee literally sifts through hundreds of nominations and weans the field down to three finalists in each category. From there, the finalists are sent to a voting committee comprised of the world’s leading academics in the indexing research world, where they cast their ballots and the winners are chosen.
