IBA is the association of the indexing industry. Its members comprise providers and users of indexes, index products, and indexing strategies. Users include public and corporate pension funds, endowments, foundations, trusts, Taft-Hartley plans, public and corporate treasury functions, and financial planners, and advisors. Providers include index calculators, structured products dealers, securities and derivatives exchanges, index fund managers, insurance companies and investment banks. The organization represents the single largest investment and risk management strategy category in the world's financial markets with tens of trillions of dollars in notional and direct investment.
The mission of the Index Business Association is to engage in advocacy, research and education activities that promote best practices and standards in the development and distribution of indexes, index products and strategies, and to enhance the responsible use of indexes, index products and strategies by institutional and retail investors.
